The PLICO claims staff consists of six professionals and two administrative assistants. The professional staff includes two attorneys and two registered nurses and four experienced insurance claim analysts.
PLICO has had excellent claim results since changing from third-party administration. Since 2004, the claims staff has reduced the number of open suits by forty-two percent. In the last three and one-half years PLICO has won ninety-seven percent of the cases tried. This outstanding result is a credit to the quality of the medicine practiced, the advocacy of the lawyers representing the physician, and the careful selection of cases taken to trial.
PLICO’s outstanding record is the result of aggressive and proactive claims handling. A Board approved group of highly motivated, defense minded attorneys work closely with our claims staff and provide legal representation to our physicians. The claim staff is vigilant regarding ongoing communication with our insureds and coordination between the claim department and our experienced panel of eight law firms. This allows for greater accountability and better overall results.

Timely reporting of a claim or lawsuit is required by your policy. When you call to report a claim, please have your policy number available and be prepared to discuss the facts of the claim or lawsuit with a PLICO representative.
