- PLICO is owned and directed by physicians.
- Who is on the PLICO Board of Directors?
- The PLICO Board consists of physicians who understand the problems that you deal with in your practice and consider this when making decisions.
- Does PLICO have any restrictions on insuring certain specialties?
- No! PLICO insures all medical specialties if the physician meets underwriting standards and we do not discriminate against high risk specialties as other companies do.
- Does PLICO insure physicians on a part-time basis?
- PLICO offers part-time policies as a service to those physicians who choose not to practice full time.
- Does PLICO offer any temporary coverage for physicians who cover another physician's practice when there is a need to be out of the office?
- Yes! PLICO offers temporary substitute coverage (locum tenens coverage) as a service to our insureds who must be away from their practice.
- Does PLICO offer any premium discounts to its insureds?

Yes! PLICO developed a Preferred Physician Experience Discount Program which offers a premium discount of up to 10% for physicians who have been insured by PLICO for 5 or more years. We also have a Risk Management premium discount by which physicians may achieve "BRONZE" (2% discount), "SILVER" (4% discount) or "GOLD" (6% discount) status by accumulating points for participation in educational activities focused on risk reduction techniques and srategies. In order to achieve "GOLD" level the physician must attend a SorryWorks! seminar and complete additional activities totaling 30 points.
- Does PLICO offer any CME opportunities for its insureds?
- PLICO offers CME courses for its insureds on the PLICO website.
- What is PLICO's policy for retiring physicians?
- Physicians who are 50 and over, have been insured by PLICO for at least 5 consecutive years, and have retired completely from the practice of medicine, receive free “tail coverage”.
